Video Description: 19th Century Continental Philosophy (PHH 4440) is a course designed for upper level undergraduate students looking to read foundational texts for the history of continental philosophy. The students had to read and paraphrase selections from Kant, Fichte, Hegel, Feuerbach, Marx and Nietzsche. In this class, a discussion erupts concerning Nietzsche’s rejection of the law of identity and how it has ramifications for our own notion of person as a stable enduring self.

Video Description: Introduction to Philosophy (PHI 2010) is a staple course in the liberal arts core here at USF and is comprised of first- and second-year students. In order to promote learning through regular recall, I start my class with an informal quiz of the material we have covered so far. This sets the stage for our discussion and sets the tone for the rest of the class. The review also serves as a warm-up for class discussion, since students tend to feel more comfortable answering questions and voicing their opinions once they have already spoken in class.
