Plan of Study Worksheet

Above is a screen-capture of an Excel sheet I put together for students in our program (the spreadsheet itself can be found in the “Narrative” section). This is part of a larger presentation I have developed for incoming graduate students in our program, which is designed to give our new graduate students a sense for which requirements should be completed in each semester. The spreadsheet tracks all of the major requirements for graduation and gives our graduate students an opportunity to entertain various schedule options to make better decisions planning their courses.

In the fall of 2019, the USF Philosophy Department adjusted its degree requirements. Consequently, I have engineered a separate spreadsheet for incoming graduate students which aligns with their new requirements.

During my time at USF, I founded and coordinated a new lecture series entitled “Philosopher in Question” within our graduate organization. The lecture series is open to the public and meets multiple times a semester. The lectures entail a video-chat with contemporary philosophers and scholars from various universities around the world. In the fall semester of 2018, our guest speaker was Professor Thomas Sheehan from the Stanford University. Professor Sheehan worked with us all semester and video-chatted with our graduate students multiple times to discuss his new book Making Sense of Heidegger: A Paradigm Shift. I am so grateful that he was willing to dedicate time and energy to talk with us, answer emails, and send additional materials to help in our dissertation research. The series was a great success!
